Is WLCI teaching Package Designing

Yes, WLCI Design School teaches Package Designing. We also encourage students to participate in Live Projects to practice their skills. Take a Look at Abhirami Rao’s CD Packaging Project.

wlci feedback

WLCI student Abhirami Rao, has completed her design project recently, which was designing and packaging of a CD cover that was given to her as an assignment. Abhirami Rao has done her Advertising and Design course from WLCI Design School. She is creative as well as innovative in her thoughts and execution of the same. At her Design School she received training on how to design a concept, illustrate the same, do product research and merchandising, ideate and draw up collaterals and many other design related skills, along with hands-on experience in real-job scenario with the innovative “Traineeship Programme”.

She took up the challenge to deliver something new and not the just run-of-mill design. She researched the theme and the product that she had to deliver and came up with a very innovative idea of presenting the CD cover. She made a ‘Circular Disc Cover’ that is very different what you would usually view in the market and as well as used the space to ingeniously present the information about the CD.

According to Abhirami’s own words-‘A wrapped up thing is a piece of surprise and curiosity for the on lookers. If it appeals to the eyes, people show interest to know the content. I designed a CD cover as well as retail packet for an album -Aalaap by Agnee Band, as a part of WLCI College assignment and showcased it differently’.

WLCI Design School wishes Abhirami all the best in all her future endeavors and to view Abhirami’s complete profile, click on the link below: http://aalaap-c.blogspot.in/

How Wigan & Leigh College displayed Spiderwick Chronicles

In the year 2013, the final year students of the Fashion School at WLCI College participated in Chimera. Chimera is a highly acclaimed fashion show which is hosted to showcase the designs of students. WLCI initiated this show so as to provide exposure and encouragement to the students.

Such an exposure yields confidence and enhances the drive to succeed. Many designers, fashion houses and buying houses fill the seats as audience members. They provide feedback and love to engulf themselves with the creativity of the future designers.

One designer to watch out for is Ms. Sherin Thomas. Her over the top imagination is clearly visible in the designs. In the image you can view the process that is involved in creating their ramp wear. All students who are graduating from WLCI undergo this process. It involves :-

  • Design Research Process

WLCI Reviews Oil Prices

WLCI hopes that the situation becomes contained soon in the Middle East.

Although, the oil investors at the middle-east are not panicking yet. With ISIS militia close to Baghdad and marching on, there is a lot of anguish in the Business and Investor community in the Middle-east but the oil prices have stayed quite mute with only 2 $ price rise for crude oil barrel.

How Wigan & Leigh College participated in Design Competition

wlci feedbackRecently a Poster making competition was held in Mumbai. Students from all design institutes were seen at the venue. This event was being held by a charitable foundation along with the guidance and support of the Mumbai Police Commissioner.

This was no ordinary competition, it had a motive. Which was to create awareness and generate support for the Safety and Security of Women and Children’s of India. It saddens the WLCI Community to see the conditions of women and children on the streets of Mumbai.

So, when the news of such an event being hosted came to the ears of Mumbai Campus dwellers, many jumped in to participate.

Two of our students walked away with the glory of receiving recognition, whilst others were just happy to get the opportunity to contribute their thoughts.

Ashni Hemmady, who won the consolation prize, spoke about her inspiration – “This poster was an attempt to spread awareness against child abuse, initiated by Mumbai Police. My concept of the poster was simply a message conveying that the string of the balloon might just end up strangling them and their childhood because of child abuse.”
