Review of WLCI on Anandiben Patel

Anandiben Patel, the urban development, revenue and disaster management minister in Narendra Modi’s Gujarat cabinet, is the new ‘Chief Minister’ of Gujarat. Narendra Modi did break the norm and chose a “Woman” minister as his successor.

The world wants to know now-who is Anandiben Patel? And why did Modi choose her as his successor? Well, for one, 73-year-old Anandiben is a senior BJP member and had a minister in Gujrat for the last 17-18 years. More importantly, she has a no-nonsense image and has set very high standards of performance in her role as minister in Modi’s Gujarat government. Her track record has been extraordinary.

Given her impressive performance, it was an almost foregone conclusion that she would be Modi's heir for the top Gujarat post. Anandiben has enjoyed Modi’s confidence since the day she entered the BJP in 1988 while being the principal of ‘Mohniba Kanya Vidyalaya’ in Ahmedabad. She completed her bachelor’s in science and then became a teacher in a girl school and subsequently the principal.

From a school principal to being the front-runner for the chief minister's post, Anandiben has come a long way. From her school-teacher days, her image has been the one of a strong woman.

WLCI says ‘Kudos’ to ‘Woman-Power’ and congratulates the new CM of Gujarat!
